Here is a podcast of some new solo guitar work, “Heart Afire”. It’s been a joy to compose this piece through my exploration of percussive techniques for the rhythmic groove, for harmonics, and to play notes off the fingerboard.

This recording is of my 1970 Guild D50. George Peacock, in San Francisco, just rebuilt the bracing so that I could use this guitar for percussive work. Thanks, George!

This music is so much fun for me to play. So many of my skills both as a composer and a player, and a lot of my personal experience of music is in this one: my love of rhythms contrasted with melodic lyricism. To play it my heart is “Afire”.

I hope that you enjoy this recording. This is still an early recording and mix. Still, I’d like to share some of the work that I’ve been cooking.
